Senior Account Director

Melissa is a trusted communications advisor with more than 20 years of experience leading strategic planning, corporate and executive communications, stakeholder management, media relations, content creation, and communications training programs.

She excels in building effective integrated strategies that allow organizations to achieve their missions and business goals. Through collaboration and open communication, she translates complex ideas into clear and engaging stories and creates communications solutions that elevate brand awareness and reputation.

Her work includes more than five years as a consultant in public relations agencies, working mainly with aviation and aerospace and defense clients. Additionally, Melissa led the USAID program responsible for training more than 150 field-based communications officers. In-person and online training curriculum focused on messaging, storytelling, speech writing and public presentations, media relations, social media, and brand management.

Prior to that, Melissa oversaw international donor and stakeholder communications for Children's National Health System in Washington, DC, with a focus on partnerships in the UAE. She developed customized donor strategies, created training for executives and doctors, provided event planning and logistics support for delegations traveling to and from the UAE, and managed UAE media relations to build brand awareness and engagement. In collaboration with a local agency, her work in the UAE earned an award for social responsibility.

Earlier in her career, Melissa served as press director for a large, nonprofit humanitarian organization and as a U.S. State Department press officer. She provided media relations and crisis communications support for conflict and post-conflict environments and served on projects in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. She has also held communications roles at The White House and NASA.

Melissa is a native of New Orleans and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications from Florida State University. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University and is a certified Project Management Professional. Melissa is based in Alexandria, VA.
